John was a classmate of mine in Central School. He came there in 7th grade. He and I were voted in as the class artists. He was a wonderful artist. His life ended too soon. It was my understanding that he developed a brain tumor.Jane White Ward
John was a good guy and a good friend. He attended the University of Colorado in Boulder for a couple of months in the Fall of 1970. He had a psychological breakdown of some kind that resulted in him being hospitalized in Chicago at Northwestern Memorial Hospital where he committed suicide.
I am not sure if this is the same John Zimmerman who attended Sears. He was a really bright guy, had sort of platinum blond hair. Not too tall, didn't see him much with athletics but always very nice. I am saddend to think that he had either a brain tumor, as someone said, or that he passed away by his own hand, as someone else said. Maybe the tumor wreaked havoc on his feelings and actions. It is always a tragedy when we loose a friend we know so young....1970 would have been right after we all graduated from high school obviously, so his life was short. I am glad he is at peace.
