In Memoriam

Stanley Korth

Alan Blake writes:  Stan Korth and I were friends for most of our lives. Stan died of natural causes in July or August, 2008 (I don't recall the exact date) in Oklahoma City, where he had lived for many years with his wife. They had no children.

I remember Stan Korth very well.  We went camping in Zion, Illinois back in the sixties.

The reason I remember is the final two episodes of "The Fugitive " television series was on that weekend so we hiked up to a lodge nearby and sat in the tv room to watch the final two episodes.  We were  boy scouts of troop 101 in Wilmette.  The other reason I remember is that we had pitched our tents and the wind was coming up getting ready to pour rain .  We were absolutely dry and safe when we shined our flashlight on the inside of the tent and saw something that had fallen out of a nearby tree on our tent.  I said "Stan what is that", he said, " it's a gizmo"  so we threw our flashlights at it from the inside and collasped the tent just as it started to pour rain.  Needless to say we got drenced before we could get the tent back up!!

Rest in Peace Stan,

Just found out about his.  Stan & I grew up on Highcrest Drive in Wilmette.  he was the nicest guy.  His Dad was a Physician and one of my earliest medical role models.  I remember he. and Alan Blake were the early instigators of competitive Frisbee golf.  Hope anyone in his family reads this.
