Nigel was always a rugged individualist, and never a joiner. He was a great auto mechanic in high school. He had a great sense of humor, and befriended people who were rejected by other classmates.

Nigel was my across-the-street neighbor from 1965 to around 1974. He and his parents were originally from England. They owned a St. Bernard dog and a large cat that would get into fights with ours.  Nigel's father was a manager at a Chevrolet dealership in Chicago, which in part explained Nigel's affinity for cars.  He owned a green 1955 Chevy and a 1956 Chevy wagon as well, which he would drag race at Union Grove Wisconsin. He spent a lot of time modifying them in the driveway, and I would walk over to watch occasionally.  Both of us had taken an automotives class at NTE, though at different times.

Nigel was a tall, good-looking kid who always seemed to be dating the prettiest girls in school.  One of his girl friends was Cathy Marks, who was ahead of him one year in school.  I was so jealous, because I had a thing for her as well. Another girlfriend was Diane Clark, I believe.

Nigel's friends included Mike Pinkowski (who lived up Central St. from us), Jim Carlson, Jim Mohrman, and David Lundberg, all of whom also shared an interest in cars.
