Ballin, Richard A.
Richard A. Ballin, of Cedarburg, WI, formerly of Northfield and Northbrook, passed away suddenly July 13, 2009 at the age of 57 years. He was the beloved husband of Rev. Jane Terry; the loving son of Edith and Robert Ballin of Northbrook; the dear brother of Barbara Ballin of Milwaukee and Peter Ballin of Lyons, IL. Further survived by many loving friends, his students and his family. Richard grew up in Northfield, IL, attended Sunset Ridge Grade School, and graduated in 1970 from New Trier High School. At New Trier he was a French Horn member of the New Trier Symphony Orchestra and the Pep Band. He also was a photographer for the school newspaper and the Year Book. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Brooks School of Photography in Santa Barbara, CA, received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin, at Oshkosh, and taught Special Education at Hamilton High School, Sussex, Wisconsin, for the past eleven years, after having served as a commercial photographer in Appleton, Wisconsin. He recently received his Masters Degree in School Counseling at Concordia University in Milwaukee. Richard was revered by his students as a most dedicated friend and teacher, and by his family and friends as a beloved humanitarian. Through the years Ric adopted three dogs from the Humane Society. Memorials to the Wisconsin Humane Society at 4500 W. Wisconsin Ave., Milwaukee, WI 53208, will be appreciated. Services have been held.
