So Sorry About Eadie
Posted Tuesday, September 23, 2014 07:57 PM

For years, we swam together at Michigan Shores Country Club under coach Gil Finney. Eadie was always the liveliest, most energetic and funniest swim club member of anybody on the team. The coach adored her. We trained together for years before NTE. She had a natural gift for competitive swimming--a very physically grueling sport.

After graduating in 1970, my first job was with her father, Ross Wetzel, a former cartoon animator for Walt Disney.

My thoughts and prayers are with Eadie, her husband and their two sons.

Michael Scott Cutler.

I too am very sad. Eadie was a leading example for the women in sports. It was such a unique  thing to see a female participate in any sports in 1968. Eadie was in many of my classes and was a terrific artist, too. She was always a lot of fun and the video is such a heart break for me. I participated in timing the men's New Trier swim team and was quite proud to know Eadie! Jane White Ward..........my heart aches for her.
